Quick gain setting question

Trying to make sure I do the gain setting equation correctly. I have an Eclipse XA5000 amp, trying to set the gain for the front speakers. Puts out 50watts x 4 channels at 4ohms. Since the front and rear speakers have their own gain knob/control, would it be 50w x 4ohms and then sqrt or 100w x 4ohms and then sqrt? I didn't know if I need to add the two front channels power together and then do the equation or not? Hopefully that makes sense!

Nah, don't have an o-scope. Just figured I would set them this way. I usually just do them by ear, but figured I would set it with the dmm since I finally picked one up! Seems everybody recommends to setting the gain this way. Thanks for the help.

If it is a 4 chan. measure your output on only one channel and set your equation for 50 watts... w/ rounding you want about 14v at full tilt from an individual channel...make sure you use a clean sine wave within your filter to test this
