hi,

i have this amp : KOIILER XM-6666 2CH 420W

and i want to add to my 2001 bmw x5 ,

i have one each door 2 speakers -1 bigger size regular oem speaker) and 1 a smaller size (twitter oem)

and also on the top dash i have 2 twtters oem's

and i see in trunk that i have all wires coming there,

i also have a box with 2 speakers (it looks that is the sub-woofer)

so now how should i connect all this to my above amp with out burning those twitters ?

the head unit in front that i am using is the new dynavin e39a (d95) from dynavin[dot]com

let me know ,any advice!

thanks

Oh wow, bud, BMW is notorious for making aftermarket stuff not work right... number 1 question, do you have the idrive system? do you have Logic7? do you have the amplifier in the trunk the factory system comes with? If you have iDrive, forget it, cant keep it with aftermarket by any easy means I am aware of, if you have Logic7 also going to be an issue because BMW puts all of the crossovers into the factory amplifier so you will have to either start from scratch or build your own crossovers and possibly delete your mids....I might be wrong on some of thise because the only BMW I have done much work on was a 3 series, but If I know them Germans they dont like us touching there "perfect" machines

well before it had the MID and the CASSETTE player at top, also DSP system ,so from what i have read into other bmw forums, it can be done by relocating the mid into the glovebox and the cassette in the trunk,to trick the amp that the cassette is still there for the dsp to work and get sound,as of right now i am not doing something right so i still dont have sound, but i just find out that i need a antenna adapter metra 40-vw53 ,then with the work around it should work the sound, but i was going to re-wire all speakers and put my amp ,in stead of the oem one,if i cant get the sound going.

thanks,

well if i decide to put my own amp,i will have to track down all oem wires to all speakers ,the only problem i have as i am not into amps so i dont know exactly how to wire the amp, maybe just for now to get some sound is just to wire the lower speakers, because for sure will not burn those...

and decide later what i will do about the twitters,

now i went few days ago to a shop and the guy told me that i need a 5 channel amp!,why ? is there a different between the 5 channel and the 2 channel that i have?

thanks...

Yeah...imagine each channel at one speaker...not entirely true, but for this situation it works.... a 5 channel amp can run 4 door speakers and one sub, generally, your two channel can run 2 door speakers or 2 subs

wow,thanks for that info....

so i guess if will buy a 5 channel amp ,i should have for the 4 doors and one sub.

now the question remains can i use the 2 channel i have for my 6 twitter speakers?

or i need a special amp for that also?

thanks

Well with that many speakers it sounds like you have Logic7, which means all of the crossovers are in the factory amp which you need to bypass...so, just for info, if you want to use a 2 channel amp, your going to need to get some crossovers... you want a low pass for the larger (mid bass) probably 300Hz and below, a bandpass, this is going to be ridiculously hard to find, for the mid, around 300hz-2.9kHz, and a highpass around 2.9kHz... that is going to be really hard to come by without more amlifiers or expensive electronics...

hmm,okay...

well i so all wires come in the trunk at the plug on the amp,and i know some guy that i talk to,that all wires from all the speaker come to the amp from each speaker,

so what i will do ,cut and track down each speaker (2 wires -+) ,then i can use the 5 channel amp i guess, for the 4 speakers and one sub.

and will just leave the twitters at a later time,to figure out what i need to do with those,

the guy had the 5 series bmw and the wiring is the same as x5,so he said that each speaker has the wires coming to the trunk ,at the amp plug ,individual,

anyway, thank you for your time and info !

OP - they are called tweeters not twitter

Twitter is a stupid website where people post every little small detail of their lives for people to read.

Tweeters are small speakers that reproduce the higher frequencies of music.

Please stop referring to them as twitters.

I had a 2002 and a 2004 X5

The 02 was a 3.0 and the 04 was the 4.6

I changed out the systems in both

Both times I used a 5 channel amp

However you could use a 2 channel and a 1 channel if you wanted.

my bad,sorry ... tweeters!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

so with the 5 channel amp can i add all the speakers from the doors and dash front and the sub? also the tweeters?.

thanks friend.

or with the 2 channel now you could run the front speakers from the amp

Thew rear speakers from the radio's power

and you would need another amp for the subwoofers.

Now you have not mentioned anything but the factory subwoofers

Are you wanting to use the factory subwoofers?

I do not understand why you removed thew factory system?

It seems to me that you want to run all your factory (OEM) speakers and just use a different headunit.

Why is that? What was your reason for changing out the factory system?

hi,

see pic bellow

went from oem to aftermarket unit.

left side picture is the aftermarket one,and the one in the right is the oem one.

reason that i have changed it is gps, ipod and more....good stuff that has...better than oem.
