Quick fuse question

I was cleaning up all my wire mess today in my truck and i noticed i never switched my fuse in my power wire from when i ran my old kicker. Its a 60 or 80 amp and im running the 1200D in my sig. Is that to small of a fuse to have in my power wire or is that ok?

what gauge is the power wire, you fuse the wire according to that..4 ga is typically 125A 0 ga usually can handle 250A max so closer to 225A..

fuse to the wire... you need to check with the manufacturer to see what they rate the wire.

Usually you fuse to the specs of your wire, but since it has never blown, no need to change it now. Just know that your amp is not continuously pulling more than your fuse value. It might pull above the fuse value every now and then, but you have to double the fuse rating, or exceed it just a little for a long time to get that fuse to blow.

So is having the smaller fuse holding my amp back not letting it draw as much power as it wants?

no. it would still try and draw that power (it needs), but it would pop the fuse before it got there (if it's too small).

you'll never blow that fuse so don't worry about it. unless you plan on running test tones for a few minutes at full tilt, your fuse up front will hold
