Questions about HUs in general, and a question about a specific HU

I have extrapolated that the more preamp outputs the better, and the more voltage those preamps have the better. Here's my question, why are those specific characteristics so important, and what are some other features that are nice/important to have on an HU

I was looking at the KDC-X494 and was wondering if there was another HU that could match it's numbers and features in the same

What part of NC are you in? I'm selling a like new Pioneer DEH-P6600 for about 30% of the retail price. It's just as nice as the X494 & I'll sell it to you for 1/2 what the X494 costs.

And pre-outvoltage does not matter. Don't buy the hype.

I live near Greensboro, in Guilford County.

One of the biggest reasons I like that kenwood is because it is compatible with my Explorers steering wheel controls, if the Pioneer is the same way, I might consider that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm @ UNC-Charlotte.

The Pioneer is compatible with the steering wheel controls via an adapter. Here's a link to it, check out the head unit classifieds section, I have a thread fo t with pictures. I had a Kenwood X592 & loved it. It's just personal preference, they both make good h/u's. If you're looking to save a little money the P6600 would be a great option, I'm selling it cheap just to get rid of it.

It's a good deal, but I think I'll just stick to the kenwood though, i get all the install stuff free from sonix, nothing against you :/
