i was on youtube listening to some setups and ran across some with the 18" btl. i was wondering why on music or in these specific setups do the btl's sound like @$$. specifically asking about during a song if there is a 35hz tone, the actual output of the woofer seems to "slide" down to 35hz

I will find one of the said videos for reference

edit:http://youtube.com/watch?v=WVXYhFLNxOE

skip to 1:05

I know i have heard vids of btl's playing without this though...and tonight i found 4 different users with the same result

There are too many factors involved to concluded that any anomaly you hear, or think you hear, is based on the raw driver being used. It could be the enclosure design, the environment, the signal, the stereo settings, the camera mic, etc.

That being said, BTL's are not SQ queens.

You may be referring to how the song is recorded actually. If you are meaning that it sounds strong right away and then fades down, that's just how the song is. Most songs like that have an initial hit that has a greater intensity and then the tone keeps playing but it slowly attenuates until picked up again by a main peak.
