When the amps specifies 4ohm or 2ohm, is there a switch on the amp to make it 4ohm or 2ohm or is it a wiring type deal? I always wondered about that.

it depends on the voice coil configuration and impedence of the speaker, and how you wire it.

It depends upon the load inwhich the amplifier is driving.

Whatever impedance load (i.e. the impedance of the voice coil of the speaker/subwoofer) is connected to the amplifier is the load will see.
