Hello,
I have always been curious about the compatability of using two different styles of batteries in an audio system for a vehicle. I have my audio setup in a pretty small vehicle, a Chevy Prizm to be exact. I have always been told to remove the stock alternator and upgrade to a high output alternator, but due to the size of my vehicle, it doesn't seem like a logical idea. For the past year or so, I have been running everything with a Kinetic HC1200 as my main battery for both my accessories as well as starting my car. It works great, I love it! But, due to running a JL Slash 1000/1, I feel like it can't keep up with it past the amp being turned up more than halfway, while still running all other accessories used by the vehicle itself.
As for my question at hand, I still have the battery that was in the car when I purchased it used, a basically brand new battery from Auto Zone. Now I have read different opinions all over the Internet about whether it is a good idea or not to wire it so my car uses that battery under the hood, while having my wiring kit lead to the trunk as it is now, but instead of wiring directly to the amp, have it wired parallel to my "Kinetic High Current Power Cell", then to the amp from there. Is it a bad idea to wire two different types of batteries together like this, which in turn are both connected to the alternator? Any help would be great, especially since I don't exactly know how to describe it without making some sort of diagram as an example
thank you guys again in advance for any help!
