Question regarding impedence

I have an MB Quart Onyx OA500.1 mono amp right now that is currently running an 12" L5. Since the sub is on the way out, I am looking to possibly to get something different. Being that the market is limited on Square subs, I am probably gonna have to ditch my prefab Kicker enclosure in lieu of one for a round sub(s). My questions are as follows:

1) Since my amp is rated at 500 watts @ 2ohms, should I be looking for a sub that's DVC 4ohm or SVC 2ohm to get the most out of the amp?

2) Buying a DVC 2ohm sub will actually put the sub at 4ohms thus only drawing half the power from the amp correct?

3) Because the amp is rated at 500W, the sub should handle a minimum of 500rms?

4) Can I run 2 subs off a monoblock amp? If so, how do I wire it? (Both subs DVC or SVC, 2ohms or 4ohm?)

5) If I can run 2 subs off a mono amp, would my 500W amp be sufficient to do so?

I know most guys here say mainstream stuff is usually garbage, but I don't really have a lot of money at the moment so I would really like to try and keep my Amp because it's still relatively new (less than a year) and runs like a champ. I am looking for something that's going to put out deep bass with decent SQ since this is my daily driver. I'm not looking to compete or anything. I just get a little lost when it comes to wiring these things up the proper way. Thanks in advance.

1. Yes

2. 4 ohm or 1 ohm are your options with 2 2 ohm coils

3. Yes, though getting honest "power handling" specs is hit or miss.

4. Why run two? At the 500W range a single sub simplifies and allows you to buy better quality for your money.

5. Whether your 500W is "sufficient" is up to you entirely.

If u ran a sub at 1ohm on your 2ohm stable amp you would either send your amp into protect or burn it up.

My amp is 1ohm stable.

Then yes run it at 1ohm to get your full 500watts

If it's stable you can wire to 1 ohm.

Is there any added benefit of buying a DVC 2ohm sub and wiring it to 1ohm over buying a DVC 4ohm sub and wiring it to 2ohms since both are going to run at 500W?

Again sorry for the noobish questions.

The 2ohm wired down to 1ohm will be getting about twice the power as the 4ohm wired down to 2ohm...

The 4ohm woofer would see like 250watts

The 2ohm woofer would see like 500watts

the amps specs says it puts out 500 watts at 2 ohms tho, so would the increase of THD be worth it if the power doesnt actually increase much (if at all)?

That's what I mean. If the amp is already putting out 500W at 2ohms, wouldn't running it at 1ohm just put unnecessary load on it with no return?

I'm pretty sure that amp amp will do 500 at 1ohm and prly 250 at 2ohm. I don't think it has a regulated power supply like jl slash or Rockford cp models. It's prly just a miss print in the specs

That's fair as the specs on lower brand amps aren't exactly what one would call honest these days. But if its accurate, the electrical draw would cause just heat and distortion and not be worth it. I dunno about the specs accuracy
