Question on RMS Wattage

I recently purchased 3 subwoofers rated at 200W RMS each.

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand, if you have 2 subwoofers being pushed by a 400W RMS amp, they'll be seeing around 200W each. If this principal is true, does the same principal apply to 3 subs (the RMS wattage pushed by the amp is divided by 3)?

I'm not sure if it matters, but I'll go ahead and tell you the subs will be wired for a final load of 2.67 Ohms.

Any good recommendations of amps that will get my subs their 200W each?

Also, sorry if this has been answered before, I just had no idea of how to search for it!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

The power output of the amp will be divided by the number of coils wired to it so the answer is yes.

If the subs are svc (single voice coil) you can buy the pioneer gm-510d rated 600w@2ohm but it is 1.33ohm stable daily.

If they are dvc (dual voice coil) get a xenon 600.1 and wire the at 2.67ohm

They are dual voice coil.

So essentially, I'm looking for a mono amp with an output of 600W RMS @ 2 Ohms?

I'm still open to other suggestions of amps.

Also: If I get an amp that puts out 800W RMS, do I risk extremely overpowering the subs, or would that run ok?

800 at 2.67 would probably be about right. If they're decent subs you could probably even go as far as 1000w at 2 ohms. Power doesn't blow speakers, people with no clue how to use a gain control and volume knob blow speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I beg to differ...

But I do agree with the last part of your statement.
