Question on amping speakers

also, i have a 2001 civic and wit the fronts and rears amped you can't hear the rears. might be different in your car though.
You may just not have them tuned equally. I have a 2000 civic and I can tell my rears are there. Them sh*ts will kick out some bass sometimes.

So I bought a kenwood KDC-X897 to replace my cheap KDC-105u and the sound is already worlds better. I think I am going to ditch the crunch amp in favor of an excelon XR-4S unless anyone thinks I'm wasting my money in doing so.

Lastly does anyone have suggestions on decent coaxial 6.5s that can deliver done mid bass for my rears? Not trying to spend more than $100 since rears are mostly for filler anyway, but again will stretch my budget if a certain set of speakers is truly worth it.

Thanks for all the feedback!

the cz702 is a much better choice then the kenwood you just bought... but oh wells too late now. If you want midbass, you should look into Treating your doors before you waste money on more speakers you dont need.

look through that ^^^^

40 Sq ft Audio Technix 60 Mil Sound Deadener Heat Shield Square Feet | eBay this would do more good towards your midbass rather then blowing dough on a cheap (under 100$) pair of speakers.

If you really want good sound quality, I would just do a good front stage and forget about the rears they are no where near as important as your front stage. No coaxials, you dont want all the sound at your knees.

That kenwood 4 channel is decent but i'd say work with what you have for now, when you need more power or a cleaner output upgrade it later. Since you already have an amp, even though its a junky amp, its enough juice for most speakers to do its job. Put that money on some decent components speakers.

Thanks for the ambiguous answer.
I'm not an audio snob, and I'm not looking to spend $700 on a set of components, $500 on an amp and $300 on a deck to outfit a $4000 car.

I'm a college kid on a budget, I know that I won't have a world class sound setup, I'm just trying to make my car sound decent. So as I stated before; I'm hoping to keep the deck around $100 but I'm willing to spend a little more if necessary (see my previous post)

Thanks cfox for the sound deadening suggestion; thats next on my list after i get this deck issue figured out.

Does anyone else have helpful feedback? Thanks
okay, what to you sounds good? exactly. you and I have a different perception on what sounds good. if we could get awesome sounding systems for cheap as chips, wouldn't we all do that?

this may help you a bit, majority of your sound quilaity will come from your install, not the gear you put in there

Ok thanks.. I'll move on to sound deadening next..

Are you suggesting I get rid of the components I've already installed in my doors in favor of a different set of speakers??

New amp isnt a bad idea, those crunch amps are dirty! Also I've seen those amps kill all the speakers it was connected to as it died. Only saw it happen twice, but thats 2 times too many.
