Trying to add a sub to my car- Help Needed!

I have a 2004 Touareg with a regular radio with a cd player but I have a premium audio system with an internal subwoofer and amp. I want to add an aftermarket amp and sub in addition to the premium system that I have. Is there anyway that I can keep the factory amp running for all the speakers and the factory sub while having the aftermarket amp running for my additional sub? Any help is appreciated, Thank You.

yep can do. You may require an loc so you can adjust the input level going to the aftermarket amp. If you get the right amp then you could wire it high level and use the signal sense to turn on the amp. I know off the top of my head that some fosgate, alpine, and sony amps will do this. do some research on what kind of gear you are thinking about putting in there. Things to consider, how much room you want to consume, how much output you really want, and how much you want to spend. if you want to go big then you will need to upgrade the electrical as well.

Watch ohm levels. Some factory amps are rated at higher ohms and will blow when putting 4 ohm after market speakers in.

What is a loc? and the amp I have is the audiopipe aspm 1500

bro just throw a sub and amp in the back... that simple if your not upgrading the interior spks.... if you want it to go on/off hook up a taco switch... I got factory amp and spks and sub in my ride and my sig....

I got a taco switch, so my wife gets the factory sub and I gets the boom!!!

ohhh okay does she like the sound of the factory sub? or do you tune your system so all you can hear is bass and nothing else?

What is a loc? and the amp I have is the audiopipe aspm 1500

line output converter. Its a way to tap into the speaker signal and convert it to rca's. Doesnt look like that amp has a high level option so you will want to get an loc.

PAC SOEM-T 2-Channel Line output converter with remote turn-on :: Amplifier Integration :: Amplifiers & Audio Integration something like this will do the trick.
