question about port area

what the hell are you talking about? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
iirc the general rule of thumb is twice the diamater of the sub
i just cut a hole square in the side of my box and rolled my windows up and down to control the type of sound i wanted

Well if the general rule was twice the diameter of the sub, then the port area should be ~ 30"^2 for a 15" sub, which seems low after doing some searching. Well I didnt really find anything in my search but one of the box plans websights say 66"^2 for the dimensions I put in according the sub and room I have. Now I could change the dimensions and still fit my trunk, which changes the port area. So im still in need of some info but ill keep searching...though what I said above could be wrong //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

that is the minimum you should use, not would you have to use

reaudio.com at the bottom of main page itll have a box design program. no calculations, just put in the dims of the box you want, and play with the port width and length of the 1 and 2 walls and itll tell you everything you need to make the box at that freq. it takes some playing around with to get what you want, but once it get it its a good box.

it tells you how many cu inches it is, feet, tuning, freq, port length, diameter, etc..even a cutsheet. check it out.

Is it accurate casue I hear some arnt? It probaly is cause I dont think you would send me to a bad source for info, but I just want to amke sure. Thanks.
i made my last box with it and it slammed. takes a while or playin around to get everything how you want it

best way to make sure it's accurate is too do it by hand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Yes that is but when you cant afford to do it more than once you want to do the best the first time.
