ok i have a set of type s components and inside the x-overs there is a tab that can be adjusted from 0dB to -3dB or to -6dB

now first of all would this be for the woofer or for the tweeter and also what exactly is this changing, is it changing the freq to which the speaker will play, changing the roll off rate or what?

thanks

It is likely the tweeter attenuation circuit.

0db would be no tweeter attenuation.

-3db would be a 3db attentuation on the tweeter.

-6db would be a 6db attenuation on the tweeter.

It's used to level match the output of the tweeter to the output of the mid, since it will be install dependent. One of those "try it and see which setting sounds best" type of adjustments.
