question about my ho alt

ok so i've had a 240 ho alt sitting on my kitchen table for over a month and i want to install it but, i dont have the money to go get a yellow top. would it hurt to use my old battery with my new alt, i will have the big 3 (with a 250 fuse and 0/1 gauge wire)? or Should i just stick it out another month while i gather the money for the bat.

you dont need a Yellow Top to make use of an HO alt

no but its an old bat and they say to get a new one, and i'm not going to buy a new one just to turn around and get a yellow top(because thats what i want)

i dont see how having an HO alt would kill the old batt any faster than it is already dying

having the HO alt might actually help the old batt some

I would install it with the old batt until you get the money for the yellow, it shouldnt die within a month.
