Question about DVC wiring and power

So I'm planning on wiring a 2 ohm DVC sub in series for a final load of 4 ohms. The sub is rated at 400 watts RMS... my question is, since I'm effectively doubling the impedance, will the final power be 200 watts? And if so, will using a 400 watt amp be overpowering it?

No, you will not over power it. If you wire it to be a 4 ohm sub, use an amp that will provide it 400wrms at 4ohms, good to go, dude.

one more question... so i'm planning to hook it up to a 4-channel amplifier. it is rated 200 W RMS per channel at 2 ohms, and 400 W RMS (bridged) at 4 ohms. I was planning to wire the sub in series to 2 bridged channels on the amp (for 400 watts@4 ohms), but now I realize I can wire each coil to a single channel (for 200 watts x 2 @ 2 ohms each).

Which wiring option would be better? Which would deliver more sound?

I'd personally wire the coils together and then bridge it.
