Question About 0/1 Wire

Okayy, just installed everything in my car.. my question is that I had to reduce the strand count of my 0gauge wire by a lottt just to fit it into my Fosgate 801S punch amp... is this a very bad thing? Hopefully it doesn't matter at all

on a recommendation //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

anyways i was planning on picking up a distro block but ****.. what dangers do i run having the amp hooked up like this for now?

Not many "dangers".. Just make sure no stray wire strands (that were cut) are touching any other part of the amp. That is basically the only thing you should watch out for, if you cut it properly, then you SHOULD be allright. Just keep an eye out for stray strands.

Oh.. It matters. You should have bought a distrobution block that can accept 0 guage and put out 4 guage. Why did you go with 0 for that amp?
going from 1/0 to 4g would reduce the strand count anyways... it wont matter, the only thing i might add is that it could be potnetially dangerous if the cross sectional surface with expsed wire ends comes in contact with anything. that could be potentially very un-good. i hope for your sake its fused well and you dont mind testing that fuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ohh..k

i wrapped most every wire with tight electrical tape so i think that's pretty safe back there

thanks for the quick responses

reduce your strand count?

why didnt you just get thinner wire? man thats hacker.

Most people like others have said run 0 for the long length from your battery to the rear of your car then split off to 4 gauge for the very short run to the amps.

I cant believe you stripped the end of the wire then just trimmed off the wire strands that wouldnt fit in the hole.

0 gauge for 800watts heh. overrrrkillll and then he goes and makes the overkill useless by doing something hacker like that.

yea i do feel like a retard admittedly.. i went with 0awg wire on a recommendation but i had already planned on picking up a distro block in the future..

anyway can this wiring have somehow caused my battery to die? its dead this mornin and im not sure what to fix before jumpin it because im new to the whole scene

yeaa will do.. i enjoy wiring everything up.. gonna be getting a relay a distro block some cold cathode lights and stuff.. fun stuff

but today im screwed with a problem because i def. wired somethin wrong.. or maybe i just left my dome light on last night (doubt it tho)
