Perhaps it is just an expression pressed on to people by the idea of Christianity and some atheist have no problem in accepting it as it really does no harm, especially when we're talking about the "comfort" of the dead.
Or perhaps peace here is just not having people cursing his name while he is dead. It may not be actual peace for him but maybe peace for those who are still alive and are around to hear such criticism. As far as resting goes, could just mean he doesn't have to have to deal with being alive anymore, which some people can consider that to be a good thing.

I would think that if I beleived in God though, I'd be really happy...I mean I'm going to the greatest place ever, Heaven. I would be really excited for someone to take my life, because there is so much to look forward to in heaven...right?

Well consider when we force items to evolve, such as biogentic engineering. We make trees that make more fruit, resistant to blight, etc. It doesn't "kill" all the rest of the trees that were not forced to evolve does it?

you are talking about science and natural progression - two totally different spectrums.

I wouldn't say it quite like that...but I do believe prayer is an easy way out. My friend believes God answers such prayers with the strength to get him through. I think writing it out and searching for practical solutions is a better way.

Prayer isn't an easy way out; action still needs to be done with the answers given.

like duece212 said, if you can face the problem its better than to pray and HOPE an answer or salvation or whatever is coming to help you.

i agree with the last comment. to me, as someone who looks to science to solve everything we dont yet know, i think god is honostly a gigantic excuse. Its like he was made to answer every question that people at that time couldnt explain scientifically. Miracles are just coincidences in my book.

it is funny that the most widely studied history book through out the world is "honestly a gigantic excuse" and "to answer questions that people at that time couldn't explain." but yet you will believe the history you learned in highschool as gospel

The only true way in to heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; not by believing in God. There are plenty of people who believe in "God" who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

While there are many differing opinions on this subject, there really is only one conclusion. Without proof no one can really say one way or another.

I for one am an atheiest because nothing that has been said about god can be proven. Somethings may not be able to be explained, but in my mind it was not a higher powers doing, but coincidence. They even proved that the parting of the red sea is possible under certain circumstances.

then why has it not been done since?

If all of the healings Jesus did were coincidence; then why have these "coincidences" not occured since?

I have read the bible. It actually means very little to me. You are the one saying religion is the only way. But what you are proposing is not possible since its not feasible to prove fiction is in fact not reality.

I myself, have a very open mind and choose to listen to all sides instead of making snap judgments that say if you dont agree with me you are wrong. That doesnt make any sense, considering no one has all the answers.
