Putting an enclosure in a vehicle with the engine in the rear... Toyota MR2

I have yet to see the vehicle. My boy at work has asked me to do an install in this car. Will the bass flow through the "firewall" into the cabin or will this be troublesome? Any pointers you wanna throw my way? Thanks!

my friend has one of these and up front under the hood theres hardly any room at all for a system specially a ported box.

But as for firewall i dont actually know how thick it is being the engines in the trunk.

My friend just decided not to do a system he just got new door speakers and 2 6x9s custom fit behind his head since his is convertible it was really tricky to do.

Shouldn't matter front or rear, Subs are non directional. Might even be better, could cross them up a bit higher since it won't be pulling the stage backwards. The only problem i see here is dealing with the limited space.

thats why u dont put a sub in the front but in back of ur seat. I seen this happen and thats like your only choice if you want some quality.

Front subwoofer setups can be excellent if properly done...doesn't make a difference whether it's behind or in front of you. Maybe he could build an enclosure with external ports, to go into the cabin that way...

Hey i dont know how profecient you are with moving engine / under hood parts around, but this is what I did to my Fiat rear engine car, and had a trunk up front very similar to the MR2. Maybe it can give you some ideas....or at least thats the idea of my post.

The black area on the top pic is just carpet, under that is the radiator.

You can see the baffle I made, with polyfoam sealant to do the corners and then I just carpeted over all that. DId 145 db at waco autorama back in 1995, which was pretty good for back then, and being free air.

hope this helps.

in the pic above, excuse the mess, I was installing hydraulics so I had alot of the interior out...You can see the baffle I made, with polyfoam sealant to do the corners and then I just carpeted over all that. If its a Mrk I, I worked with a guy who mounted a 15" in the front trunk free air firing into the firwall. He drilled holes, made a square port that the woofer mounted on and away he went. The thing ROCKED like you wouldn't image.

A smaller sub could work as well as long as its designed for free air.
