It was a 2004 model. What model year was it? Early 2000's?
I dont understand there pricing... there are some OLD alpine headunits going for 300 dollers still... for that price you could get a brand new 9855 or a 06 model... usually when things get older prices go down

so what is it, from the looks of it , its just a ghetto version of the 9855
First, I would like to apoligize for the questions I have, but please help me out here....I am also under the impression that newer usually = improved (better)...I was about to get the 9855 opposed to the 9853 because it seemed to be identical but had 4volt pre outs...Correct me if I am wrong, but I learned that the 2volt pre outs are good enough, so it would save me $100 to get the 9853.....Now I come across the 9830, (I cannot find the 9835), and it is about the same price as the 9855?...Is it superior to the 9855 and 9853? If so, how? Is it so much better that I could hear the differences?...How old is it? Is it possible to still buy them new or what?...I am just a bit confused that people are buying old models for the same price as the brand new models, and they are supposedly better than the current models....Please clear this up for me, thank you...
imo all the headunit companies are "cheapining" there products. i'm an eclipse fan and i just wasn't impressed with there new offerings so i bought an 8443. anyways the 9830 is like last year's model i believe so it's not like it's old school lol. preout voltage is overrated so you will not see a difference between 2 and 4 volts, just properly set your gains. the difference i believe between the 9830 and 9835 is i think the 9835 has bass engine pro vs. bass engine plus. basically the 9835 has a little more processing and a supposedly better display. i'm not totally familar with alpine decks so i'm sure someone will clear up some things on this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
