First off, how much would that Alpine roughly (ballpark figure) run you after the discount?

There's a reason a lot of people have them. And that "extra bullshit" equates to extra system tuning.

I'm just trying to help....

If you really want that Alpine deck and it fits all your needs, then go fot it. It's a decent HU. It's just limited, IMO.

The internal fuses are blowing easily causing MAJOR engine noise / static. This has happened to 3 490's in the last week just from people I know. If im not mistaken there is a big thread on another forum pertaining to this.

Hmmm, very interesting. Fusus, although a source of frustration from time to time no doubt, does not detract from the feature set of Pioneer vs. Alpine within the same price ranges.

I'd love to read about the fuse problem with the 490's, as it has sparked my curiosity... if you can provide a link, I'd greatly appreciate it.

soo on the 9885 i saw you can change the blue buttons too red was wondering if the 9883 could do the same thing???

I just installed my 9883 on sunday. It does have feature rich settings, you just have to set it up.. VS THE OLD PIONEER I HAD IT IS A CHORE BECAUSE THE PIONEER HAD ONE TOUCH PRESETS as this deck does not. Once you set it up it is good to go,l takes a lot of getting used to for me because it is my first alpine deck ever. Alpine also has a promotion to get a free fast track cord for your iPod from best buy make sure you get your cord.
