when i was in teh corps, both bases had car hobby shops accessible to the marines. it was like 2 bcuks an hour for a lane in teh garage and pretty much any tool you would need to work on a car was included. max a day was 6 bucks i think. even if you were tehre all day. they had lifts for cars also that were a bit more and storage available for long projects, i.e. rebuilding an engine or even a car. also provided jacks, jackstands, barrels for dumping fluids etc.

i def miss that optin now as i have to take my car in for servicing now to a local shop.

anyone have a place like that in your city/town?

yeah. pretty much similar living conditions for someone in the military and living on base. but benefits everyone.

actually kinda thinking it might be a good idea for a buisness when i get older, but i dont know if it would really take on well. especially since a lot of people in teh marines consider themselves gearheads.

we have a hobby shop here with 4 lifts. i utilize the hobby shop all the time. only downside is they have a lack of certain tools, though one could still get the job done. i usualy go up there to change my oil as they dispose of it. plus it's much easier to change the oil on a lift.

they recently added a motorcycle lift and will be adding a motorcycle tire mount and balancing thing.

though here they charge us like 4 bucks an hour :/

on saturday i spent 20 bucks.

I have one right down the road. Its called Self Service Auto. They have 6 lifts and each lift has its own bench, air line for air tools, spring compressor, and a grinder. If you dont have tools, they rent out anything you could find in a garage.

at camp lejeune, the bigger base, they had it like that. each lane had its own tool box and air lines. at the air station you had to go get thiings as you needed them. other nice thing was mounting and balancing tires fora small fee as well.

Yeah its an awesome place to have around, especially in the winter when its cold as shit out
yea a benefit i didnt think of
