2x - KICKER 10" COMP VT SVC 2Ω - Max Rec Amplifier Power (WATTS PEAK/RMS)* 800/400

1x - PIONEER GM8500 1200 watts Class-D Mono - 600 watts x 1, at ; 300 Watts x 1, at

Question: Since the KICKERS can handle a max RMS of 400 watts, I assume the safest way (to protect the subs) would to wire the subs in "series" to double the impedance () and have the amp push a load (300 watts to each sub)? If the amp was sending a load (600 watts) that could potentially damage the subs since their max RMS is 400 watts, correct?

by having 2 subs the power get split between the 2. so 600 watts @ 2 ohm is 300 watt per sub. However you will have to wire it in series because 2 2ohm subs in parallel will put a 1ohm load on the amp and that wont work. So unfortunately you will have 150watt per sub at that configuration.

#1 , you have two 2ohm SVC (single voice coil)subs that can be wired together at either 1ohm or 4ohms....these are your ONLY 2 choices if wiring both subs to a single amplifier channel(monoblock amp).

#2 , you have a monoblock (1 channel) amplifier rated for 600w x1 at 2ohms or 300w x1 at 4ohms.

Ummkay, now you have 2 choices, you can operate 1 sub at 2ohms on the amp for 600 watts OR wire both subs to the amp at 4ohms for 150watts per sub.

I know it *****, but those are your choices based on the equipment choices. AND these results are only good IF the amp actually produces clean rated power..

Here is a diagram that will answer you questions now as well as in the future of most wiring configurations and amplifier loads..Hope this helps, and you can print out and take to the vehicle to make certain that you are wiring correctly also.Easier to see, rather than tell you,as most may become confused:D

Thanks, I wasn't sure that the load would split again in the series, I thought it was continuous power--but I understand the split (150watts/ea.) on two subs with 300 watts at a 4 ohm load.
