protect mode

i was messing with my setup today and when i was playing it it was going in to protect mode. but the amp didint shut completley off the green light was still flickering. My radar dectector shuts off to some times when it shuts off. I shut my cd player off and the amp turns right back on usually in protect mode it over heats and wont turn on for a couple miniutes. where shouuld i check?

what does your voltage drop to while playing music? Amp probably has low voltage protection.

check the connections to ur battery; if their solid, it's just battery life.

my connection to the battery was a bit loose becasuse the positve terminal on the battery practially burnt a hole in my hood thats all good now but the amp still turns off when the gains set about at half no bass boost no bass settings are set all at 0 and it will turn off even at lower volumes not even when its being played loud. Would big 3 help this? its grounded to the seat belt bolt so its got a pretty good ground and its all sanded would a cap maybe help?

It sounds like your amp ground cable might not be adequate. If your symptoms are as you mentioned then when ever your ground cable is too small and sometimes smaller than the 12volt pos. cable you will over heat the amp along with the ground cable.

the amp dont overheat though. and the ground cable is 4 ga. along with the power cable. i only have a 60 amp fuse i dont know if this would matter?

possibly too low of a load on the amp?

some amps are VERY stingent on what kind of impedence they see.
