i see it like this....how are you going to bolt down a 2x4 box. theres nothing inside of it, so therefore its literally bolting 1 piece os MDF to the floor, rather than 8 or 9. That obviously has more strength than a box.

thats what were saying...thats why in the design he had all that mdf to level the floor...

get some L shapped angle iron and bolt it to the frame of the 2 x 6 (I would use) and the other end to the frame of the explorer.

Unless of course you wanna just burn through the MDF.

im gonna use the MDF to bolt to the floor of the car thus far, and ill tell you the cuts that you need to make.

im working all 16's the week after thanksgiving, so it wont be then....we are gonna have to get started monday, or thursday if we cant get a ps3

2x4's are your friend when leveling the floor. Be sure to use plenty, I didn't use enough.

what size were your individual boxes? do you like how it came out (vs building one big box)

another idea.....build your box right....and THEN INSIDE OF THAT put MDF down thick enough ~6 inches, to bolt down to the floor. cuz im guessing your floor is rather "flat" up until the drop off. If you bolt it down ever 8-10 inches on the back half, THEN 2x4's could be used to level it out, take strain off of those bolts, and you could tighten them that much more....
