So here's what's going inside..

Eclipse CD8053

CDT es-643 3-way components (not using the passive crossover though)

CDT 10" Sub

Xtant 603x (for midbass and sub)

Xtant 604x (for mids and tweets w/ rm-8 module and using the passive output from the tweet channel to run them)

Audiocontrol DQS

Here's the trunk taped off and sprayed, ready for the fiberglassing to begin..

After a few layers of glass..

After all 6 layers.. ready for the center to be cut and fiberglassed to the front piece.. The sub is going to be mounted in the backseat, so I made the front frame out of mdf, and then fiberglassed it.. I then fiberglassed around the metal to connect the two pieces..

The sub mounted behind the backseat.. cut an MDF ring and shaped it to fit..

I will soon post the progress on my fiberglassed door pods for the CDT ES-643s

Ok, I wanted to keep the door panels looking as stock as possible, so here's what I did.

I taped off the stock panels and sprayed them with pam.. I taped over the pocket, because originally I was going to attempt to get the speakers further forward, but after making it I realized that it wasn't just d*mn near impossible.. It was LITERALLY impossible..

Taped off the doors to get the mold for the backside..

Snapped a quick one at the beginning of the process.. These will serve as molds for the actual pannels..

Here's one of the molds.. I can't find any pictures of the other one..

After I made the molds, I used them to fiberglass the actual fronts of the panel.. I tried to see if I could just spray paint a layer of paint one the first one.. to save time.. I still used a release agent (pam) but apparently the substance needs to be able to absorb it more.. So the one of the door panel fronts has some paint still on it.. This will obviously be sanded off later.. (not pitcured I drilled holes through the metal of the door and the back panels.. This was used to fiberglass in bolts that are attached with nuts on the rears of the door. The plan is to mount the door pods, and then the tops of the door panels are kept stock and simply clip back on.)

I trimmed the edges of the panels and got them to line up right by leaving the fiberglass on the door and tracing the bottom of the door panel onto the fiberglass.. When I made the molds, I outlined the edges and trimmed them down also.. That way whenever I finished off the real panels I just shaved them down to match.. I fiberglassed the fronts and backs together at the joint, and put like three layers on that so it would be really strong..Then I flipped them upside down and filled any gaps with resin..Once that hardened I attached the panels on the top by stretching a cut t-shirt over the opening and hot gluing it to hold it in place.. I couldn't reach all the way down into the pods to reinforce the connection from the inside, so I had to cut holes in the bottom of the panels. I will fill these with fiberglass pieces cut to match the size of the openings.. I put 3 layers on the inside, with extra emphasis on the corners. That way whenever I sanded down the outside flush there was plenty of strength on the inside. The holes in the front were used to fill the panels with water to get their current airspace. i originally wanted to try to get .5 cubes in each so I could port the 6.5s, and was planning on going into the doors and adding more space it it was feasible, but there were only .35 in each so there was no way I could get that much more air. I am just going to leave them sealed. In the last photo you can see the bolts on the back of one of the pods.

I cut into the panels to get the desired shape, and then used dowel rods and epoxy to mount the mdf rings that I made for the drivers.

I sanded down some of the rough edges, and then put the final shaping on the opening for the mdf rings.. I used a handheld router/trimmer to give the rings a nice edge to them. I should have done this before I mounted them, but I forgot.. I them used a dremmel to round off the backs of the rings in the desired shape.. I got the fleece earlier.. I just went to the fleece isle to pick some up and this was like the first print that I saw.. I just couldn't pass it up! My door pods got tunes in 'em! haha.. I cut mdf rings the size of the inner diameter of my actual rings to fit into the spaces while they are glassed.. I taped and sprayed them so they will be easily removable.. Tomorrow I'm going to fleece the other one and hopefully get a good layer of resin and maybe a few of glass of well on it.. More to come! enjoy! I'm probably going to cover the panels in the same leather as is on the doors to make it look as stock as possible.. The trunk install is going to be really stealth and sleek also.. I haven't taken any pictures of the amp rack yet, I'll try to get to that soon.. It is mounted directly behind the sub box and sized to fit perfectly in the space under the convertible's pull down box.. The amps are mounted facing each other with fans going in and out, circulating the air.. There is a door on the front with hinges, and the spare tire is still accessible by simply opening the door all the way and removing the floor panel..
