Progress on my newest install.. fiberglass just got classy.. pics

How do you plan to seal the midrange off from the midbass? I also thought you were going to try to keep it stock looking? Speakers flowing out of a door is not stock looking. It does look nice though and I hope they sound nice.

Yes, the midrange/tweet will be sealed off from the midbass. Well, its pretty much impossible to fit 3-way comps up front in a 2-door stick shift, so what I meant by keeping it looking as stock as possible was keeping the original lines from the door panels, and covering the panels with leather to match the rest of the panel. I am not going to big and flashy, I am going for supreme sound quality. Also by "keeping it stock" I mean that All of the panels are very easily removable and accessible. The door pods will have banana plug terminals so they are as easily removed as unclip, screw off bolts from the rear, and remove. Thanks for the comment! I hope they sound nice too! But with 6-channel independent time alignment, an audiocontrol dqs, and an RTA, I don't know how it couldn't! lol

What was the point of the fiberglass in the sub box?
Door pods look great. subscribed.
Well, there is a metal lip that sticks out all the way around the opening.. I didn't want to cut into the metal (although I'm sure it would've been safe to do so, I just like to try keeping the car in tact as much as possible) Plus, the area in the trunk on the backside of the metal between the cab and the trunk the surface isn't flat, so using the fiberglass there gives it a better fit and maximizes the airspace. I'm trying to keep as much trunk space as I can. I also like this because the sub box is actually form fitted and it is impossible for it to move at all. I turned up the sub and put my hand actually on the wooden part where the sub is mounted, and there is absolutely no vibration! I found that incredible, because I've never had that firm of a mount before. I always attach the sub box to the car, but its never been soo firm that the box couldn't even be felt moving at least a little bit!

Quick update, I just finished covering over the passenger pod, but I have to go to school to take a test. I'm going to fiberglass them after the test and then put on a few more layers also hopefully. I'll get back on later tonight with pictures of the progress.

I like everything except the tweets. They stick out too far IMO!
Yeah, when you're looking at the doors open they look like they stick out really far, but once you are in the car with the doors shut I think it looks pretty sweet.. I could've recessed them back a little further towards the front of the car, but I wanted them to be as close to the mids as possible.

pretty cool. Those tweets do look like they extend out pretty far, but I can see how they'll look better w/ the doors closed.

I think you can easily go IB w/ your car, and save much more trunk space.

you are not nervous that you are going to run into issues integrating this back in with the stock door panel?
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Nope! Not at all... I've already shaped the rear section of both door panels, I still have to do the inserts, but I am waiting until I have all the bondo and shit done to make sure it lines up perfect.f

A few pics of today's progress..
