Profile AP1040 problem or something else??

Ok, I hear background noise when playing music. The louder I play the music, the louder the background noise.

I know it is not engine noise because at zero volume, all my speakers are dead silent/ I like to listen to music really loud and this noise can really be heard the first few seconds of any track before music starts playing, you can hear is hissing and it is really annoying. And then when a track is mainly on vocals or highs, you can hear it as well.

Just wondering if this budget amp would be causing it? I also have cheaper RCA's, could they be causing it? It's not my HU as it is one of the higher end Excelon units.

Do I look to upgrade the amp? Is that what you guys mean by a "clean" sounding amp? I am pretty new to the Hobby. Thanks for any help

Running an AP1040 in the GF's car and have no noise issues. Doesn't mean your amp isn't the problem though.

Try swapping a different set of RCA's. Also do you have any of your HU settings cranked up too high?

Another thing I was thinking, would it maybe help to just bridge the amp to 2 channles to power my comp front speakers and just run the rear speakers off the HU?

My reasoning is by having all that power for the fronts, i can keep the gain down and that could help the problem. And also more power might improve the sound no?? I have some polk db6500's which I am pretty sure can handle some xtra power. They are rated at 100 RMS. Would giving them about 200 watts be too much for them?

If you use a little common sense it should be fine, and those polk's should really come to life.

I run things that way in my car.
