Problems with Pioneer DEH-P840MP.

Ok I posted before about issues with my 840MP. the face would sometimes randomly shut off but the deck would keep playing and I would have to pull the face off to get it to work right.

Well now it wont even turn on.

I was using my 9300 for a bit but I was also looking for a new HU too. On eBay I see this guy selling a service.

The service was that anyone who owns an 840 8400, 850 8500, or 960 9600 who has issues with the deck not turning on of the face shutting off he can fix it for $60 bucks.

I looked around some more and found out that the cables between the face and the hu are defective.

I contacted the guy on eBay and tried to get him to tell me what he does to fix them but he wouldnt tell me. I said will I know its got something to do with the ribbon cable and he replyed well thats just one of the 9 things we fix and upgrade.

Does anyone know what all needs to be done to fix this deck or where I can get parts? I know Pioneer is OUT! of these ribbon cables.

Thanks.

You are in luck. Pioneer recently released a parts kit that fixes the problems with the DEH-P840MP and DEH-P8400.

The part number for the repair kit is GXY1005 and can be purchased on the pioneer site. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=GXY1005

The telephone number to order is: 1800-228-7221.

I ordered mine today (Tuesday) and it is supposed to arrive on Friday.

From what I have read on the other forum, it is supposed to be very easy to install the part and is the fix for all the problems.

The original ribbon cable is damaged by the opening of the second faceplate. The new cable has a notch that doesn't interfere with the second faceplate.

I will post again on Friday/Saturday after I install mine.

Bottom line, the ribbon cable is in stock and cost only $11.20

I had also read this guys profile and knew that it was a simple fix, just took a little time for someone to come up with the part number. Hey $50 profit for a 5 minute fix isn't too shabby.

I stumbled on this information on this site.

Well I went to a Pioneer service center (130 mile drive) and picked up this parts kit you speak of. Took me about 15 minutes to install as I went slow and when I hooked the deck back up it worked fine =)

Thanks alot. Worked GREAT and only cost me $18 bucks locally with no wait of shipping.

Thanks again for the info man.
