JVC Kameleon cd gain

I just installed this unit and the cd sound level is much hotter than the am/fm. Is there a way to adjust the gain on the different sources? Also is there a way to set the initial volume level? I have looked through the manual and didn't find any information on either of these.

i got one of those hu's the first month they came out, back in like 98. it still had some bugs in it, first the buttons wouldn't come out. then the second one, the buttons wouldn't come out again, and the third one just plain cought on fire! the stereo store traded me for an excelon (worth about $100 more) for my troubles. i hope yours works out for you. and on the cd being louder. . . i don't know my panasonic and my g/f's pioneer both do the same thing.
