Problems connecting iPod

I use the Alpine IVA-W205 with a DVD Player connected to the AUX IN. I want to connect my video iPod via the apple AV cable to the same AUX IN using three Rockford Fosgate (1 male to 2 female) Y splitters. I know you won’t be able to have the DVD and the iPod functioning at the same time, so I turned the DVD Player off when using the iPod. The video from the iPod displays perfect on the Alpine, but there is no sound. I only get sound if I turn on the DVD Player, but then the video is distorted. Can anyone tell me why there is no sound and how to fix?

yellow is for video,were is your white/red cables from the i-pod? that has to go into audio in on the back of the radio. do you have a picture of the i-pod connector. you may have to get another connector with rcas on one end 1 head phone male plug on the other and stick it in the hole on the top of your i-pod

Apple makes A/V Cables that have a yellow (video) and red/white (right/left audio) male connectors. The other end plugs into the bottom of the iPod itself, the same as pluging it into the AC charger. I've tested the cable on my TV and it works great. It doesn't produce any sound though when I hook it up in the car with the Y-splitters, I get video only with the DVD Player off.

I do have another cable which is a headphone jack to a red/white. I'll give it a try, but I believe when the iPod cable is used it turns off the headphone jack.
