Pioneer shallow sub is making a static/raspy noise, more so then anything else; I hooked up my rockford fosgate and it worked just fine. So whats the deal?
remove the sub, and meter it with a DMM. push the cone in and out and watch the meter. if you see a short or open circuit it is a sign you have a bad coil.
the cost to repair the sub may be more than replacing it. you can send it to Pioneer for repair.
If the coil doesnt have signs of burning or overheating they will probably replace it for free. Its a known issue with those. Call pioneer, they have decent support too. If you get a ghetto chick, just hang up and try again though
