im trying to install 2 12" clarion subs and a kenwood amp into my 91 blazer and im running into problems,

1. power will not stay on for the amp ( ground wire not in right place?)

2.when power is in, NO thump or anything from the subs (not all the neccisary hook up's done? )

3.not even sure what all i need to connect to get it to work,so many wires n conncetions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

why did i think i could do this on my own? lol

its running off a kenwood HU too if that helps *sigh* got pissed off last night and just quit lol, anything to help is MUCH appreciated

did you hook the remote lead to an remote turn on, or the power antenna? this could be a problem. Does your HU have sub outs? if so, are they turned on? Do you have power available at the amp (check w/ voltmeter or a test light) Do you have a solid ground (METAL!Preferrably stripped of paint)? Did you do something silly like have the amp set to high pass instead of low pass? Do you have known good rca's, and are they plugged in right? check this stuff and get back to me.

RCA cables---head unit

ground wire---bolted down to metal on the chassis with paint stripped off (with as big a wire you can get)

remote---head unit

power---i believe goes to the negative terminal on the battery

then plug your subs into the amp

i think i said everything right, but correct me if im wrong

!!!
The main power lead goes to the positive terminal, not the negative //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
lol ok good thats what i thought....im pretty sure the remote wire and rcas are good...im not 100% sure on the ground (maybe thats y it keeps turning off?) but now when i try it i dont get ANY power at all ( whats a sure way to connect it to the battery and where would a good ground be on a blazer?)

and does the sub outs matter if its on? kenwood deck is new so im not too familier with it yet.

Well most defintely hook up the power wire to the positive terminal. Then once you got that all setup a ground can be made anywhere on your car.

I would recomend the bottom of the car because those cars were made in pieces and that whole bottom of that car is one piece which will make a positive ground. Just life up your carpet scrape the paint off make a whole in the carpet leading to your amp and bolt, screw, etc. the wire to the chasis. Make sure there is no paint on there though or it will make a bad ground. Then just hook the other end up to your amp and u should be set!

just find a bolt like under the seat or sumthing and take it out, use steel wool or a screwdriver or sumthing to strip off the paint and then put your ground there and put the bolt back in.

Just lift up all your carpet and look for bolts. If you see a good looking one, take it out, put your ring terminal over the bolt and re fasten it. Also while your car is on and your system is running, sit in your hatch and jiggle the ground's connection to the car and watch if your power on light on your amp comes on for a second. I had a friend go and rewire his RCA's like twice and do all this work and I came over to help him one day and went "Watch" and grabbed his ground and just turned the cable a little bit around the bolt and his amp came on.
