Problem with W7

no 3 ohms if thats the only coil, now find out what kind of drivers(ohm load) that amp was hooked to, and that will be one problem out of the way but 3ohms should be fine I've done two ohms on cheaper ones but they made very odd sounds at 1ohm and .5 but only odd sounds never even tried to work at those loads it is possible your not going to have enough power to drive that speaker and your distorting it but I really don't know without hearing it.
Here's the woofer it was hooked to: SW - 310 Subwoofer | Klipsch it doesn't say the OHM load in specifications, just Hertz

Now, I was thinking, would the box being bigger make it deeper/louder?

That's the only set of Terminals, that means it's a single voice coil right? So it's 1ohm?

That's where the screws are.
also just push the surround in some to get to the screws instead of flipping it inside out that's kinda rough on the foam and damn sure don't lift it by it!

and to give you an idea how voice coil wiring works there are two ways IF it had another set of outputs the only two possible ohm loads you could achieve are 1.5 and 6 ohms, the 1.5 would be by running both + terminals to the amp and both - as well the way that would double it would be to run a jumper wire from one sides + to the other sides - and then use the remaining +- to run to the amp.

well in a way port size and tuning by length also plays a big part in that.
Ahh I see. I can upload a video of the issue Tomorrow if that will help diagnose it

Ahh okay so if you double the OHMs on a dual voice coil would that mean more power is going to it? Basically the higher OHMs, the more power it's getting?

no exact opposite actually the higher the final load the lower the amps output will be, for example the amp in my car is 600w rms @ 2ohms and 1100w rms @ 1ohm.

Ahh I see! So if this sub is rated for 1000watts at 3 OHMs, I can make it 2000 watts at 6 OHM? If it had another coil I mean

i see this all the time. not enough port area is usually the cause.
actually I doubt that's the problem, I have the same box in my trunk right now that's a re-baffled mtx dual 12" 7500 series sub enclosure the port tapers from 1.5" to 3" it's tuned a little high but get's pretty loud for a pre-fab. and op that box is more then large enough for that single 12".
