My problem is this:

I can get the desktop to run in "VGA Mode" and when i uninstall the current driver and install the new driver it asks me to restart it. but if i have to restart it again for any reason i have to go back into "VGA Mode" uninstall the current driver then reinstall the driver and restart the comptuer again.

what i am asking is how can i make the new driver stay?

buy my nvidia 6800gs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

j/k but what kind of card is it? onboard?

find a program called drivercleaner i think and get all the drivers off

and WTF is VGA mode?

Im not sure what vga mode is exaclty. i guess it just runs it but with the least dimensions an such. but thanks ill try the driver cleaner

Device Manager -> Display Adapters -> Your Video Card (Probably says "VGA Adapter") -> Properties -> Update/Reinstall Driver -> Install drivers automatically. On some machines you can install the drivers, but have to manually tell your PC to use them. On my box, it's actually script based, I load them with the commands "startx" and "xinit" =)
