Problem with Pioneer 680MP Premier

I just installed it and everything seems to work fine. However, I purchased a 3.5mm-2.5mm adapter and a M/M 3.5mm stereo cable to use with my iPod for the front AUX port and cannot get it to work. I followed the directions in the manual.... i.e. opening the face, making sure ipod was powered on and pressing "source" repeatedly. All I get is 'Tuner' and 'Compact Disc'.. No AUX1.

Is this a problem with the iPod (its a Nano) or my unit?

i have a 6800mp....not the premier, but its cousin. power off the hu and press and hold the volume control knob on the face. flip through there and make sure aux 1 is on. that should solve the problem.
