Problem with my system and HU (CDA-9855)

OK well I just recently traded my jensen in dash screen for an alpine cda-9855. First of all when I had my jensen, my gain was set correctly, my dmm read 50 volts, which is what it was supposed to be at and i set it using a -3db 50hz tone. Well now on my cda-9855 everything is not running quite as smooth, my subs start burning up after about 5-10 minutes of use and i smell it pretty badly always, my subwoofer level on my HU is at +15 which it has to be at otherwise i wouldnt be able to get the 50v reading on the dmm if i set the subwoofer lvl on the HU lower. Why is it that my gain on my amp is still where it used to be with my jensen (the jensen had 2v preouts and this 9855 has 4v preouts) isnt it supposed to way lower than it was with the jensen? also i dont get why my subs are burning up, they never did this with my jensen. any help is greatly appreciated. And yes i did set the gains right with my 9855 but my subs still burn like crazy, i dont get why. if anyone can answer my questions here or talk to me on AIM i would greatly appreciate it, thank you. my aim sn is yoyoyo0123. oh and my system consists of two kicker 12" L7's wired to 1 ohm being powered by an orion 2500d

If your subs are " burning up" you need to turn the volume down.Have you set the EQ on the 9855 ?
no thats the thing also, i dont really know much about eq's, this is the most "advanced" deck ive owned, im used to just having bass treble and subwoofer levels, think anyone can help me out? thanks

yea i did that already, i just dont know what to set the eq to, the whole thing i want is to be able to set my gains lower and have my subwoofer level on the HU to 0 instead of +15, what is there i can change in my settings to do this?

ok coo man, ill do that, but what i dont get bout the eq is which would i turn up, band 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? i dont wanna be turning the bass for everything all the way up on the HU cuz then thatll distort the shit outta my door speakers when theyre turned up. but yea let me know which bands you think would have the most effect on my gain? thx

ok cool. yea i get the x over in 2 way mode. um i have it set to 80hz for front and rear speakers now, and my sub x-over is at 80hz on the HU, should i keep that the same or change that to something else? also is it ok to have media xpander on? wouldnt it add distortion or cause clipping? thx

i have heard about many people who, after replacing the old hu for an Alpine 98xx, complained about lacking bass... i was one of them

sollution to me was to use bass +5, gains at around 0,5v and sub-level from +12 (-3db) to +15db (0db-no boosting or atenuation)... but DON'T use the **** MX, it makes your higher frequencies sound like poop... i hated this crap

i know these hu's sound **** good, but they definetely lack bass...

alright man thanks, can you please explain what u mean by using bass at +5, do u mean the eq bass? if so, on what bands did u turn it up? thx if u can explain step by step i would appreciate it im still a noob to this unit lol
