problem with bass cutting voltage drop perhaps... help!!

well i just replaced my alt + to fuse box from 4 to 1/0 gauge the 4 was burned and fried. I am in the process of changing the fuse to batt from stock to 1/0. maybe this might solve the problem

Yikes! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif Sounds like you need a smaller fuse so it will blow before your wire starts to burn...remember, fuse size is typically determined by wire size first, equipment second. The last thing you want to do is burn up your car!

well that was the alt to fuse box wire. there is no fuse there dont know many ppl that put em there. i have come to the conclusion that it is not a voltage drop problem. because with the subs and amp off with the volume high the cd player flickers it has done this with 2 hu's. I put the dim down to 1 (dimest as possible) and it hasnt shut off yet. this is very peculiar

You weren't supposed to replace the OEM wire from the alt to the fusebox. Instead, you were supposed to leave the OEM wire alone and add the larger cable directly to the battery +.

most cars dont have a fuse from the alt to the battery and replacing it does not hurt anything, most people say not to because sometimes there are wires connected to it or running somewhere else. I tell people not to replace just to add to it also, but on all my cars I redo everything myself and replace it all.

Yes. Also, are you sure there isn't a fuse in the correct slot in the fusebox? There should be a fuse or a relay.
ok yea im 100% positive you are to replace the wire not put another in. yea the fuse box has a fuse but like said no cars that i can think of have a fuse in the strand from alt to fuse box. there we're no other wires branching off so it was good to go. and man it really increased the output.

well i put the kinetik hc600 i have and took out the wet cell i had in the trunk. i gotta say it seems to hit harder. must be cuz they are designed to recharge and discharge faster. wonder what it would be like with more of em in

wow, how many batteries do you need to install before you realize your alt is bad? Your equipment is turning off because your voltage is getting too low, it protects the equipment from getting damaged by low voltage. Adding more battery capacity is not going to fix your problem. Your alt is not recharging correctly, my guess is your external regulator could be bad? Get a meter, either a handheld or install a stinger meter in your dash. When your car is running with your stereo off, it should read ~13.8 volts.

wrong buddy my alt is good had it checked on the car and also bench tested. the problem is not voltage drop as I'm not dipping out of the 12's when hitting. also I had 4 tweets wired in I took 2 out I wonder if it put the ohm load on the cd player to low if that is possible

ok well this morning my batt was dead I got so pissed and ripped out the cd player and unhooked the wires. drove 4 mins to work yea short drive and after 12 hours it was still charged. now keep in mind the hu was off no lights on. what gives
