well first off I have a ho 160 amp alt and big 3 done. have 2 12" dc level 3's powered by a alphasonik pma1200da ( yea I know it not that great but it does push some major power out). its been working fine for over a week with a aftermarket hu but the other day when hitting hard at anything below 1500 rpms it is cutting out bad and even when down a bit it sounds like the bass is sticking like your putting the rcas together a buzzing sort. my alt is like a month old and had the batt has been tested to be good it is a stock style I'm saving moneys for a better one. also sometimes the car is sluggish to start after hitting while driving but its only every now and then. I'm gonna have the alt tested and use a multi meter to see voltage drop. I was thinking maybe the amp is messed up but it sounds more like a voltage prob

check and make sure your battery wasn't deep cycled or had a bad cell. Original batteries caanot be deep cycled or they wont hold full charge. Sounds like an external battery should fix.

yea its a stock style rewound it's 90 at idle. but it has been great for over a month just all of a sudden shyt went to hell I can't fit a big oversized alt in the engine bay no room at all barely fit my new one in

what kind of car? Stock rewound isnt always the best idea, alot of times the case is small to begin with, then they cram it full of wire, and it just burns itself out. A good aftermarket company will design an entirely new larger case. Go to advanced or autozone and have them roll out the machine and check it.

yea I'm gonna have her tested monday when I'm off work. well I figured the batt was fine cuz they brought out the machine and it did fine but hey never know. a bigger alt would have been great but like I said there is absolutely no room its a 97 acura 3.0 cl it's a sandwich in there. it has been low while working replacing a window motor the problem started after that maybe a cell is bad but the machine was fooled

well guys the batts not the problem I got a new new huge batt and the problem is still there. so I'm gonna put a 2nd batt the origional one and see if 2 batts solve the problem if so then its kinetik time

ok lets continue this. I have urgraded to 1/0 wire, I also have 2 batts in yes they are wet cells but still 2 batts. And it is still cutting out. Now it shuts the cd player completely off no buzzing noise anymore just the hu cuts off and turns back on. what gives? i dont think the stock hu did this im gonna switch it in and see. It has done this with 2 aftermarket hu's so cant be a faulty one.

bump i do have a kinetik 600 but i imagine it wouldnt help as much as the reg wet cell would. I need this fixed perdy bad as a import night is tomorrow and I'd love to show up all the ricers with their coffee can exhaust. I am wondering if maybe putting a new wire(constant) from the batt to radio might help
