Problem with Alpine 9853

Installed this HU yesterday and sometimes out of nowhere the power light just blinks really fast and and no controls work. Volume, power, seek, nothing. I have to press the reset button but even when i do and press power it still doesn't turn on. I have to remove the face and put it back in and then it works again. anyone know what could the problem be? Thanks

Drove around with the unit some more and after calling Alpine they said that when the light blinks it means that it's receiveing a signal (from the remote) or that someone is pressing buttons. I think the glidetouch is the culprit. Also I cannot set up any radio presets. When I press func. it won't go into the preset mode.

Alright. Went to best buy today and and palyed with their 9853. It works great. I guess my unit is a POS. Are all of the new Alpines being made in China now??? My friend has an 04 unit and his doesn't have the "made in china" sticker on the face.

Crutchfield already sent me a replacement, so we'll see how it works out.

the only reason i could think of is a bad connect somewhere or a defect of some sort. how did u connect ur power wire? (butt connectors, twist caps, solder, tape, etc)

solder. although i don't think it has anything to do with that. when in cd mode, when you press 'func.' it should open options to shuffle your mp3 shuffle your folders ,etc. it was working fine yesterday, and today when i press 'func.' it switches to the tuner. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I hope the new unit i get from crutchfield isn't so problematic.

Same problem here pal. I also think it has to do with the glide touch bar, seeing as when I push the leftmost end, it stops. I took mine to Best Buy for repair and am awaiting its return sometime today. I think there should be some type of compensation for this.

Those new alpines are having lots of problems, which explains why I can't find last years models for a reasonable price...
