Problem: sub popping

This is the second sub this has happened with in the same box...

Type R 15... 4 cubes tuned to 35 htz... concept cc-d1200

at high volumes my sub doesn't make a loud noise but pops slightly...

do you think i'm clipping my sub or is my box faulty? there are no leaks or anything... too much power?

my gain is set very conservatively... a little less than half and my bass is on 0, sub-out never goes up past a quarter... no bass boost

so if i'm clipping it, it isn't by much... but does slight clipping cause a sub to pop like that? am i over powering it with only 1200rms? or is the clipped signal causing it to pop... i heard the clipping itself doesn't hurt the sub, the extra power to the sub as a result does..

oh, and it doesn't pop all the time at high volumes, just on one or two songs where the bass is very deep

If it has happened on both subs, then its prob that amp your driving it with. However, I totally agree with what I have quoted. Goin RE is always a good choice, except the price rise recently.

yea, i'll upgrade that as well... i bet you're right, never happened to the 12's though... which led me to believe it was the box

i know but is that because i'm sending it too much power via a clipped signal? i thought it could handle 1500 daily, but with minor clipping, it bottums out on a few select songs

well if u have a stock electrical system... u aint givin the amplifier the right juice! therefore, it doesnt give enough power for the sub, so u cant get it very loud without bottoming out?

oh well,,, correct me if Im deadly wrong but it seems logical and experienced it...

signal may be clipping, and the box may be a little too big for it as well.

try sending it a little less power.

eva since i can remember ive been poppin my coller. poppin my colla. I would check ur wiring to reasure urself use a DMM if u can.

sounds like your having the exact problem i had, sub bottoming you need to adjust your subsonic filter your sub is unloading below tuning causing it to bottom out .
