Ok, this is so rediciulous. Nothing is ever right. I had the alternator whine blah blah. I got a stinger ground loop isolator. I connected it to the 4 channel amp front RCA's in my trunk. Now when I crank it up all the way after like 20 minutes or so all of sudden my lyrics just shut off and the sub is still playing. When that happens and I turn down the volume just a little the lyrics turn back on immediality. Why is this doing this? Is the ground loop getting hot? I never had this problem before. The whine didnt even really go away. The whine still comes on sometimes like at night. Should I install the ground loop from the brain of my indash and plug it in? Could I need a new alternator? Well I already know I need a 200 amp alt. My headlights dim at night. I have the big 3 and 2 1.0 farad caps and optima yellow top. My setup is Jl 450/4 pushing boston acoustics z6, JL 1000/1 and the 13w7.

Take no offense, but you really sound n00b-ish.

ANYWAY, a ground loop is NOT a problem to be taken care of with something that goes in the RCA line. A ground loop isolation basically nurfs what it thinks is a ground loop. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. This is my experience.

Alternator whine is usually the sign of a bad ground. Do a search. It is also a reason behind dimming lights, output loss, and high heat output. Long story short, take tomorrow and go over every power connection in your vehicle. The HU, any processors, the capacitors, the amps, the big 3, everything. If one is poorly done, you will have alternator whine.

And you might want to consider losing the capacitors. If you don't have the charging system to support the amps, then the caps are doing more harm than good.

Oh, and I should also mention I run just about the same amount of power in my setup, and off a 90 amp stock alternator I have no problems with dimming lights or detectable voltage drops. A new alternator could be less than a need.

Make sure the RCA's arent ran on the same side as the power, and like raven said make sure u got a good ground all tight
What ground?? The funny thing is I never had this problem before I got my new amp installed and new components. No grounds were touched. Obviously there is something wrong. What is making the whine? Would the extension cords of the RCA's do that? Should I just get new RCA cables all in 1 line from ground?
