Problem.... need advice.

I have a 10" Type R dual 4 ohm sub being run by an alpine mrd-m605.

The sub is in a 1.3 cubic foot ported box tuned to 34hz

This setup is in the back of my 84 firebird

My problem is that when i open the hatch the sub starts to distort... (sounds really harsh) but when i have the hatch closed the sub pounds like no other...

so whats goin on ? maybe the gains are set to high?

this is probably normal. go to the local shop and ask to hear subs that are just firing into open space and listen to see they sound similar.
