i drive a 95jeep grand cherokee and i recently installed

2 12in alpine type r's

Alpine - 1000W Class D Mono MOSFET Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover

and an after market alpine radio

now im having problems with the battery ( i think) When i go to start up the car it would sometimes just start, and then turn off.. or when im stopped at a light just turn off.. it also doesnt start up right away the way it did before i installed the system

i changed the ground ( thinking i just needed a better one ) and it starts up right away now, but it still shuts off every once and a while when im at a light, or putting it in reverse... and hesitates a little when it starts

i got my battery tested at autozone and thats fine, what else could be the problem?

I was going to suggest your ground as well. But looks like you covered that. Try testing your other grounding points under your hood.

under the hood looks good.

any other suggestions? or ideas as to what the problem is?

not sure if it helps, but after the system was installed my check engine light went on?

well i know it wasnt the car originally.. before i put the system in the jeep worked fine.

so it must be the system, or my cars response to the system

anything else i should try?

I think your amp might have excessive curent draw, meaning its trying to pull more power than your battery and alt can handle. Unhook everything, and let your alt charge the batt by driving around without the system turned on. If by day 2 the problems stop, it was the system. You may need to upgrade the battery and or alt. Also have you upgraded the ground/ power wires under the hood?

Almost sounds like a fuel delivery problem. U looked at pressure, listened to pump, checked relays?

it sounded weak when i listend to it, but i figured i just needed a tune up ( just bought the jeep used so it sat for a while )

thanks ill have to look into it^

im going to disconnect the amp wire on the battery and see how that goes. i havnt upgraded the ground power wires under the hood, ill give that a shot too

just a little update, i started my car today with the radio off, died... went to the gas station, died again, and on the way home, died at a red light.. this was all with the radio off completely

this problem is a pain in the ***
