Problem - Deck turning off and on

I am installing a full system (Deck, 2 amps, 2 subs and mid range speakers) into a 1973 Buick Riviera...

I installed everything properly and I had a problem where the deck kept turning off and on...stays on for about 3-5 seconds, then turns off and cycles through it again....

I thought it was a problem with the deck, so I got a new one, and tried it last night.....works perfectly....I was listening to the radio while cleaning up the wires....So I turn it off and head home...

I get a call this morning saying that its turning off and on again....

Does anyone know why this may be happening????

that sounds like your POWER wire is being grounded out, try directly running a wire from the battery to it. if it doesn't do it, then you know to replace a wire in your previous setup.

volt testers are always handy too.

Yes I did test all the wires and they all seemed to be a steady 12v....do you think any of these would be the reason:

1. I have it wired to the factory ground wire, do you think I should create a seperate ground either from the body or the chasis of the deck?

2. Not enough power left in the car to keep it turned on?

Do you think the factory ground could have a short in it after the car is turned...

I had a problem wiring one of my remote lines before, I wired my remote line to my power antenna, like everyone does, then it stopped working... I looked at the manual, which I won't admit to anyone, and seen the deck actually had 2 or 3 specific remote lines... GO JVC!

I guess that story doesn't really help, but a true story none the less.

Maybe when the car was driving it ratteled of a ground, or messed a ground up, or shorting out a power...
