Problem Alpine Headunit

So I have an alpine CDA 9856 and before volume 22 its fine then once i get past that the treble sounds different (gets more muddy) and doesn't increase in volume in much.

I have an alpine MRF 200 on the front stage, and an arc audio 900.1D amp on the Diamonds D3 12's in the trunk.

Anyone know why this might be happening? Is it because I haven't set my gains using a DMM, because I have no idea how?

Where is the tutorial on setting gains with a DMM?

just because it goes that high, doesnt mean you have to set it high. Hell at 18 my ears start hurting on mine, i usually listen to it at 12-13 unless the windows are down.

Just set it with a dmm so its done right, and you wont have to worry about it.

26 is fcking HIGH on an alpine. I cant stand to listen to it above 22 AT ALL, and on mine thats where it starts to distort a little anyway. Like i said, mine stays at 12-13, 18 max. And honestly im not sure what it goes up to, i thought it went to 35, but badasschevy is saying 25 and thats the same unit, so maybe it does only go to 25. Could have sworn it went higher then that though.

Makse no difference really, as long as you know no to turn up past a certain volume. Some people set them high just so that no dumbf**k gets in and blasts it too high.

Depends on how his gains are set.

im saying loud through my speakers, not even amplified. I dont have anything in my truck except the alpine unit right now, and it doesnt go past 18, and thats with the windows down. But it could be slightly different for the different units.
