Problem Adjusting Bass on Alpine CDE-102

Hey all, so as a christmas present in december of 2010, my dad purchased me new speakers and a new headunit (alpine cde102) and had them installed. So today, I went to install my new mtx terminator 12" subwoofers, and we got everything installed correctly, and we cant seem to figure out how to isolate the bass settings for the subwoofers and the speakers. when i adjust the bass, it adjusts the bass for the speakers and the subs, so does anyone know how i can adjust my subwoofer volume and not my speakers?

thanks in advance, john

i have the bass for the headunit at -7 but my sub is up all the way at +15, whenever i adjust bass for the headunit, it adjusts my subs and speakers, and when i adjust the sub not much happens.

The sub lvl on Alpine decks adjust the preout voltage, it should be all the way up. Set you HU bass at 0 and follow this guide to set up your amp. Its JL guide but it works for all amps. You can find the tones on a Bass Mekanik CD or downloadable online
JL Audio - Car Audio Systems
well if i set my HU bass to 0 the speakers are wayyyy overloaded with bass. as it is i cant turn the **** up past like 8 on my HU or its wayy too loud. I had to rewire the HU cuz the guys that set it up originally had the speakers hooked up in RCA slots. i cant seem to turn the bass down in my speakers without it turning the bass down in my subs.

That headunit should have a HPF (high pass filter) setting somewhere, set it to around 80hz. That will cut all bass going to your speakers
yes but i adjust my hpf it also adjusts my subwoofer volume, any adjustment i make to the speakers also adjusts the subwoofers
