Prime inside of box before paint?

I will be painting the inside of my box and using a plexi glass window. Would i need to prime the mdf first or just do a few coats of the spray paint? Would there be a noticeable difference?

Yes i will sand it. What primer would work well? Would one coat be enough?

You might have wanted to paint before assembly.

some evercoat slick sand primer.

Just go to the hardware store and get a decent primer/sealer for wood. Night and day difference between trying to paint mdf without sealing it first.

Nope not built yet just got the pieces cut. Just got back from the store and picked up some automotive primer that seemed to be the best thing i could find. You guys think that will do any good?

I use the spray cans of kilz...seals up the mdf good to get ready for paint . You can get it at home depot

Automotive primer isn't made for wood...

go to Home Depot or Lowes and look for a flat primer/sealer in the paint department. that should do the trick

use a fine-knap roller to roll the paint on and then sand everything with i'd say 400-800 grit sandpaper after 2 or 3 coats of primer. then you can go ahead and paint away
