Pretty sure I got sold a bad headunit... Remote Turn on Wire has 100mv

I am installing an audio system for a 2002 Lexus LS 430, installing a new 4 channel amp and a monoblock amplifier. I decided to use a single din flipout heanunit I got off FaceBook Marketplace, a Pioneer AVH-3300nex. This issue is the blue/white wire labelled 'connect to an external power amp's system remote control terminal, the auto-antenna relay control terminal, or the antenna booster power control terminal (max. 300 mA 12 V DC)'.


This wire is only giving out 100mv with ACC on. I tested this with the remote turn on wire disconnected from the amp. and of course my amps aren't turning on. Does this mean that something in the headunit is busted? Everything else with it appears to be working well. I looked online and I took the blue/white wire that has been extended to go to my amps and I spliced 12v ACC power into it from my fusebox, all this did was blow a 15amp fuse, I'm guessing because it was still connected to the bad head unit?


This has me stumped, help would be greatly appreciated!

It turns out my remote turn on wire was making contact with the bare metal of the vehicle where it enters the trunk to get to my amps. After taping up the wire, it now is sending out 12v instead of 100mv

You're very lucky that modern head units use a breaker to protect that circuit. In days of old what you did would often have hosed that output on your head unit.
