Present time! Need Birthday present suggestions

Hi All,

Was hoping for some suggestions for my daughters 18th birthday present. She has a 2003 Dodge Neon with factory (yuck) radio and speakers and she loves music so I thought it would be nice to upgrade it for her birthday present.

We have a JL 300/4 amp from another family members car that we can use for this car so I was thinking I would probably need to buy head unit, comps, and a sub, maybe 6x9 's for rear also.

Any suggestions for a good sounding system without breaking the bank would be most appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time,

mom

p.s. also need suggestions for sub or subs for my beloved's Dodge 1500 quad cab---something for under the rear seat to be run with a JL 300/2 also a pair of 5 1/4 for the rear doors. It already has a Pioneer HU and Rockford 6x9 in the front doors.

Ok any help please?

For the HU I was thinking maybe a Pioneer. It needs to have ipod capability and bluetooth would be great, but not necessary.

For speakers I have no idea what would be a good match up with the JL 300/4 which I was hoping we could use to run the comps and bridge 3+4 for the sub, and then run the 6x9's off the HU.

Advice, suggestions?

You can go everything Pioneer since it's fairly inexpensive and they perform well.

NEW PIONEER DEH-P4200UB CAR RECEIVER CD/USB/AM-FM/MP3 - eBay (item 270585705417 end time Jun-27-10 12:10:53 PDT)

Speakers-wise try to get Pioneer Premier series, they're a bit better than ordinary Pioneer speakers. That Neon takes 6 3/4" in the doors and 6x9s in the reardeck, it might have a 3 1/2" on the dash but skip them. If you buy component sets then put the tweeters by the A-pillar behind the sideview mirror.

You can use the front channels of the 300/4 to power all four main speakers then bridge the rear channels to power one 10" or 12" subwoofer, that way the headunit don't have to push power to speakers and thus run cooler and last longer.

PIONEER TS-W308D2 CAR 12" CHAMPION SUBWOOFER DUAL 2-OHM - eBay (item 360266251651 end time Jun-24-10 20:42:22 PDT)

^^^ Wire the dual 2 ohm coils in series to give it a single 4 ohm load for the JL amp. Put that sub in a 1.5 cubic feet ported box and it should be plenty for a first-timer.

You can pick up an 4-gauge amplifier wiring kit from any local stereoshops for about $60. Don't buy the one from Walmart, they ****.

deaden the doors get a good 2 way component set and put in some inexpensive coaxials into the rear stage. sub stage is a whole other beast in itself, but will require a good subwoofer amplifier and proper enclosure. The amps will need a wiring kit. O and a HU which these days most of them are good enough so long as they meet your rca output needs
