Pre out Voltage?

I am in the market for a new HU, going with a indash dvd of some kind. Question is how much difference would there be from a 2v output to a 5v output. I know the higher the better, but does it really make a big diff?

well your gains will be considerably lower using a 5v preout compared to a 2v preout.

Im in the research stage of my in dash also

If you are looking for SQ look for that 5v unit, imo its worth losing some lesser features for a cleaner sound. I just dont like the thought of having my gain higher

voltage is simply for level matching, if your system has noise at a lower voltage, then there is something wrong in the install or equipment

Keep in mind that unless you have the volume on that headunit turned up all the time, you are not getting that 5 or 8 volts of output. If you are looking for noise rejection, low impedance outputs are far more beneficial.
